ABOUT DR MOGAMBERY


After completing her undergraduate degree in medicine (MBChB) at the University of KwaZulu Natal in 2005, Dr Jade Mogambery went on to complete her internship at Ngwelezana Hospital from 2006 to 2007. Following a year of community service at the Knysna Provincial Hospital in 2008, she was accepted into training and was employed as a registrar in the Department of Internal Medicine at the Pietermaritzburg Metropolitan Hospital from 2009 to 2012. She completed her fellowship into the college of medicine in 2012 through University of KwaZulu Natal. She then worked at Edendale Hospital as an internal medicine consultant in 2013 and developed an interest in infectious diseases.

Her experiences and exposures in this role then drove her to become a fellow/ subspecialist trainee at Pietermaritzburg Grey's Hospital, in Infectious Disease in the following year. She gained her Diploma in HIV Management through CMSA in 2014. Dr Mogambery also assisted in organising of both the TB Update in 2014 and later an HIV Update in 2016. These were held, in Pietermaritzburg at Grey's Hospital and focused on a practical approach to clinical management of TB and HIV medicine targeting doctors in district hospitals. She then involved herself in strengthening the referral systems and improving the quality of HIV care in UMgungundlovu district and Umkhanyakude and Zululand districts through her CAPRISA membership as an Advanced Clinical Care trainer.

In 2015 she completed her Travel Medicine Certificate of Competence (SASTM) and her Certificate of Infectious Disease Physicians of South Africa through UKZN and Grey's Hospital. Sub-sequentially, one year later she continued in Grey's Hospital as an Infectious Disease Specialist and Physician where she was involved in the teaching of undergraduates and postgraduates.

She then returned to Ngwelezana Hospital where she had completed her internship, to become a Consultant in Internal Medicine. Dr Mogambery went on to obtain her Masters in Medicine by publication for Internal Medicine at UKZN in 2017. After years of experience in the public sector, Dr Mogambery has decided to open her private practice at the Melomed Richards Bay Private Hospital as of January 2019.

Dr Mogambery resides in Richards Bay with her husband and young son.
